I just want to say if you go on other peoples property and steal their trail cameras you are a POS. I had one stolen last night and it really hit a nerve. anyone else having this problem or have any ideas to prevent it?

Right now I have seven trail cams on crown (gov't) land and I fear they will be stolen. But I will take the chance. So far so good. Hope you find the culprit!! On my private stuff I usually have cameras on trails to my sites to catch theives but It seems I always take them down just before they (tresspassers) show up.

That sucks AND blows. Not much you can do to prevent people from being idiots.

Some cams are pasword protected and have cables rather than straps. This may be some deterrent.

If a person tresspasses and knows that he was caught on camera, their only option is to steal the camera or chip. So if you can some how get a cage for it or cable it, might keep them from stealing it.

Happens too often here. $50-$60 Wildviews is our answer so we dont have as much pain when one disappears. Just bought 4 more yesterday and placed them today on one property. Cables, chains etc are all helpful but are like padlocks they just keep an honest man honest. If they are set to steal it then it will be gone. Trust me Ive lost truckloads of trotlines, nets, bankpoles, stands, traps, commercial blinds and a few trail cameras to johnny sneakum. Not alot i havent tried over the last 35 years.

This idea may be more trouble than its worth but its worked for me. If you can hang a trail camera above the line of sight like on a overhead tree branch facing down a trail its harder to spot than at eye level. But than you will have to carry a light weight step ladder in the woods or if you use a atv than sometimes you can stand on it to reach the camera.
