Tanning Deer Hide

Postby Ponder » Tue Dec 25, 2007 11:28 pm

My son shot his first deer this afternoon, and he wants me to have the hide tanned for him. Does anyone know a place where I can get the hide tanned in southern Louisiana?

The closest tannery to you that I know of is South Texas Fur Dressers.
You can email them at: southtexasfd@sbcglobal.net, or call them at: ( 361) 578-8154.

Some will, but most just send them to the tannery. You may as well cut out the middleman. Tanning a hide for a mount ( wet tan ) and tanning for a throw or rug ( dry tan ), are two completely different things. You can't compete with tannery quality tanning. Just my opinion.
