The guided hunt.

Postby cut_un » Fri Nov 26, 2010 5:51 pm

Never really given too much thought to going on a guided deer hunt,in state or out of state. I've been deer hunting as long as I could tote a gun, in my early days, the rule was ,if it was brown it was down, now, more folks/clubs are into game managment and food plotting. The chances of killing that wall hanger are greater in my neck of the woods are better than ever! That's fact!

BUT........ Living in Va. I can hunt all year and just maybe I will see or maybe get a crack at a deer in the 120-130 range. I've hunted for over 40 years and have ONE at 148 7/8, pretty good for the area and probably the deer of my lifetime!
Again, never given alot of thought about going on a guided hunt, a hunt that I will be paying hard earned money to someone while I can go just down the road and "go deer hunting" .
BUT..... if you want a chance at that deer of a lifetime and want o have a crack at Mr. Big. Maybe the guided hunt offers the best and quickest means of killing that deer of a lifetime.
So, having said that ,do any of you pay to play and if so, did your dream come true? I know the thrill of the hunt, the food and time spend with the guys in camp make that time spent special. Was it worth it to ya,would you do it again??

Some peoples work schedule might not allow time for the scouting thats needed to bring them the success they might dream of. A guide will have areas prescouted, stands set up in proven areas, a place to stay, possibly baited areas or food plots and the ability to meet other hunters from across the world. Guides know how to track wounded animals when need be, something a few hunters have no knowledge of. Not all hunters have the quality hunting areas available for a weekend hunting excursion. Some hunters have everything thats needed for good success right out their door including great hunting areas. Semi guided does not include a guide at all times, also does not include transportation. This type of hunt is good for hunters who like to do more on their own. Fully guided is for hunters that want everything done for them. Sorta like going to N.B for a guided bear hunt when there is bears in VA.!!
