The Pig bomb

Postby Tenpoint » Sat Sep 26, 2009 2:45 pm

A TV show was on the the other night call "Pig Bomb" or something like that. I only caught a few minutes of the show, but they were saying how the wild pig population in North America has been sky-rocketing over the past decade.

Any see the show or notice the population increase in your area?

The population has definately exploded where I hunt in south Louisiana, I killed the very first hog in our club in 1999, a 300lb boar, now it is getting overpopulated, I'm doing my best to kill and trapp them but it's simply not enough.

It was on again the other night too. Ive been trying to find a place close to where I live that I can hunt them. There are a ton of em in the refuge a few miles south of me, but the powers that be wont let you hunt them out there. I see them EVERY time I fish there. Would love to do my part in bringin a few little (or not so little) piggies AAAALLLLLL the way home.......WEEEEE WEEEEE WEEEEE WEEEEE................

rww, if you ever get to louisiana, look me up, our club encourages us to bring as many people as we can to hunt them during the offseason. We have no limit and actually I bring everyone I can during the spring when I can get out there to hunt them. We have killed and trapped every size from 10lbs to 768 lbs. That 768 lb sow....wow was unbelievable something youd have to see to believe, she was over 7' long from butt to snout.

Thanks for the invite VS. Got a brother whos movin to Arkansas this summer, he would be alot closer to ya, & would LOVE to come down & help you guys thin em out some. Im gonna do my deer hunting there when it comes around next year. Might just have ta come down & see you guys. Over here in the refuge, they got one about 20 years ago that went 600 +. But they still dont think they are a problem & wont even do special hunts for em.

Here in Texas the bomb has literally gone off! And I did watch that show and loved it! But in all seriousness, something truly radical must be done or that population is going to go insane! Especially when that Russian Boar strain takes hold and makes future hogs bigger and meaner!!
