The Skunk Club

Postby Canadian Black Bears » Thu Jan 05, 2012 11:05 am

I am new to the forum and was kinda curious if anyone else had the same bad luck I had here in Nova Scotia, Canada. I had lots of nocturnal bucks and only does showing up during the day. Since we are only allowed 1 deer (doe tag only if you get drawn) I decided to wait it out to see if a nice buck might get in my sights. No such luck and since our rifle season is so short (October 29th-December 3rd) I missed out on meat for the freezer, officially in the skunk club. Anyone else get their name on the plaque?

Cheers and safe hunting

We have to draw for deer tags in ND for rifle. I was turned down for buck this year but drew a doe. I shot my doe on opening day. My brothers and buddies had buck tags. They filled out with some good bucks. But yes I have ate tag soup before and it's not fun!

A lot of hunters forget that the full rut was in the middle of the full moon ( Nov. 10, 2011 ). The rut activity was mostly in the light of the moon. Also the double whammy was the unusually warm temps that most states or provinces experienced during this moon phase. If you talk to hunters all over north america you would see that many of them also belonged to the "SKUNK CLUB", in 2011!!
