I just saw this on the local news. I hope they catch this bastard with the bow and arrow. This person deserves to die and gives Archery a bad rap! This guy is from Eastern KY where some people are inbreed. Sorry no offense to good eastern KY people.

Is there any concrete evidence that it was truly shot as target practice? Isn't there a chance that the dog was possibly shot by someone who thought it was a deer at dawn or dusk? I'm not defending the person who shot it but I didn't read any evidence in the story which could prove that it was shot as "target practice." Either way, poor dog, hope he heals quickly and finds a good home.

Who knows what the real story is. It's hard to believe that the dog was hit in the shoulder with a hunting broadhead and survived to make the evening news, it must have been a pratice tip. I don't buy the possibility it was an accident, not a shoulder shot. Nope I think someone was trying to kill the dog, now why might be a good question.

Obviously it didn't belong to a responsible pet owner because it had no tags and no one is stepping up to claim it. If it was chasing/killing chickens or other live stock or running deer it probably needed to be put down but most farmers I know would do it more quickly and humanly than shooting with an arrow.

My guess is it was some dum kid acting like a dum kid and deserves to be disiplined, whooped or beaten but not killed as you would suggest.

all good points. There is no doubt that the orginazation that is helping the the dog will stretch the truth.Just about all the animal rights groups do.We are only seeing this black and white and probably will never know both sides of the story.

Was it shot with a field tip or broadhead? Is it a wild dog? Sorry to put out the flame but our justice system works on the notion that you are innocent until proven guilty.

I'm a cat lover and dog lover. Anyone going out to hurt these animals just for the fun of it needs their head examined. Kids that start out doing these kinds of acts have issues. Some of those issues are them being sexually abused and kids that do those kind of things to animals will have tendencies to committing more serious crimes. Anyone congratulating someone for being cruel is an ******. Being cruel and hunting is two different things.

Undoubtedly you havent had numerous cats and dogs being dropped off in your neck of the woods and ganging up on other animals and people, this includes your dogs. Of course, cats wont gang up on people, but dogs do once they have been in the wild for a certain amount of time. If your pound is like ours, it is overflowing with cats and dogs that no one wants. They stay there for a day or two and are then put to sleep. The dogs runs deer and kill them, attack family pets, attack family members, livestock and at any point can spread disease. I only call the pound if the animal has a collar on. Other than that, I save the taxpayer some cash by shooting them myself. I dont use a bow to do it, I use a rifle. Its a quicker death, same as for deer and whatever else I shoot. I like dogs too, even have a cat that is used for catching mice, other than that, they dont get a free pass. I guess I'm an azzhole.
Curiosity killed the cat, but I was a suspect for a while......

If you have wild dogs that are causing harm to your property or putting your family in danger and no one claims them, then you have to do what you got to do. I see no problem with that. ( I am not trying to be a judge on this topic, just my opinion). Now I heard of people putting kittens in bags and kicking them, drowning them, shooting them with a shotgun and so on. Then afterwards laugh about it. If someone does that and finds joy in it then yes they are *******. The difference between you Doc and other sickos is that you are protecting your property or family. Big difference than the ones who get joy out of killing something just because they can.

Here in NC we have a leash law, even so some pets get loose once in a while.I to have a problem with people letting dogs and cats out here in the country thinking they will survive on thier own in the country. My rule of thumb is if I see a dog or cat running loose I check with my neighbors and if they dont know about the animal or who it belongs to I start a count. After I see this animal three times in three or more days it is time to get rid of it.If it is friendly I take it to the pound or call the dog catcher,at least it gives more time for the owner to look for it.If it can't be caught or runs and hides from me,after the three strikes rule it gets terminated swift and painless death by .22 mag to the brain stem.
