For those of you that don't know me, I had a son about a month ago and I was wanting your opinion. Do you think it's too early to buy him his first deer rifle? :D :D :D I've been eyeballing a nice little Rem. Model 7 in .308.

Heck no, Kwack!!! My son is only 17 months old and he's already got a .410 shotgun and a youth model Marlin 30.30 .... lol

You go pick that boy out a shootin' iron this weekend! Start 'em early buddy, and they'll stick with you.

Kwack, I had to vote "Why did you wait until now"!!!

My son was born on opening morning of squirrel season and I picked him up a nice Rem. 12 ga. pump on the way back home from the hospital!  He slept with it in the crib for months!!!!

Well, based on the results of this extremely scientific poll, my son and I took a trip to my.... excuse me, OUR favorite gun shop and worked out a pretty good deal on that Remington. I figure I can wait a little while to top it with some descent glass.

Hey kwack, if the money is right, then ya better jump on it!

1. before too long the little guy is going to be takin a big enough chunk out of the budget, so stock him up now a gun every couple years and by the time he's actually big enough to handle them you'll have em in enventory.
2. Ya never know whats around the corner with Uncle Sam, If you already own them you may save a lot of headaches going through red tape when our govt. freaks out on us.
3. My kids have seen an unloded shotgun or rifle leaning in one corner of the house or another since they were able to walk and never have i seen them even give a gun a second look unless they had the OK from Dad. So you know as well as I do that when there's an accidental shooting, It's because of a curious kid and not from a kid that has been brought up ""right ""around firearms. Follow your heart man.

Alright fellas, y'all know me well enought to know that this poll was mostly just a joke. There was no doubt he was gonna have a rifle before he could crawl. Heck, I had a .410 and a rifle before Dad even got me home from the hospital. As of 5:45 Saturday afternoon my little buddy is an armed citizen. I finished the deal with the gun shop. Bought him a brand new Remington Model 7 in .308. Got the synthetic stock and all. I'm gonna have to wait a bit to put a nice scope on it though. Rifle took all my fun money away for a while, but it was a worthy investment.
