Trivia

Allright, deer season's over just about everywhere, so to keep the place hopping I suggest a game. I'm gonna ask a question, the first correct answer gets to make the next question. Got it? Alright, here goes, what are the first names of the gentlemen of whom the "Pope and Young Club" was named after?

If the thread just dies it really won't surprise me. :D

Art, The answer is it is freaking huge. Do you know how many deer in Georgia weigh 148 pounds? Not very many. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say it is a buck and a nice one at that. But let me know if I'm right or not so I can post another question.

Well, define "before". Do you mean the model made before the 700 or which bolt action rifle did Remington make before the 700 or what? That's a vague question Doc. Hone that baby down some and I'll shoot you a straight answer. :D

According to my resources the model 721 was made from 1948 to 1962. In 1962 the model 700 was introduced.

So, what does an AMO rating for a bow measure and how does it make the measurement?

Let's see, I believe it goes something like this....The bow being tested should not exceed 60 pounds in draw weight, and the arrow used for the test should weigh 9 grains for every pound of pull. Meaning most arrows are in the neighborhood of 540 grains and are 30 inches long. A chronograph is placed at point blank range to measure the velocity of the arrow.

Honestly, I never knew the exact procedure until you asked that question Art. I didn't want to take the easy way out and look it up on the net, so I called Jennings Archery and talked to a very knowledgeable man there who explained in great detail how the testing was done and then told me the differences between AMO and IBO ratings. Good question.
