So what do you recommend for broad heads with turkey? Are you all shooting into the body or do you shoot the head?

I had a wild turkey a while back and thought the meat was very dry and kind of wild/tart tasting. Not sure if that is normal of wild turkey. I kind of thought the flavor would be not much different than regular turkey.

I've shotgun hunted turkeys but haven't tried it by bow, thinking about maybe giving it a try this spring if i'm able to get time.

You can't cook wild turkey in an oven with good results like a store bought turkey because wild ones don't have the body fat to keep the meat moist and they will dry out during the cookinig.

Deep frying seals all the juices in and injecting a cajun marinade or butter flavor marinade prior to cooking will help a wild turkey stay moist throughout the cooking whether deep frying or in the oven. Also in the oven you should seal the turkey into the pan with aluminum foil by creating a tent over the top to seal all the moisture into the pan while cooking.

Don't know what could cause the wild/tart flavor, the wild turkey's ive eaten didn't have a gamey or off taste, I know on some game like deer what they eat can affect the meats taste slightly so it might be that the turkey was eating a lot of berries or something like that for weeks up until it was killed but I haven't heard anyone say that before about turkey.

one thing i forgot to add was my brother did cook it in the over and put parmesan shake and bake on it. Maybe that is why it tasted disgusting.
