types of arrows?

Postby Dustin07 » Mon Mar 07, 2005 1:22 pm

hi Guys,

my brother is letting me use his compound, i'll probably be buying it... but anyhow, it needs arrows badly. What do you all suggest?

I plan to use it for hunting and i figured i'd probably be best off practicing with the same arrows i'll eventually hunt with. if you can provide any dotcoms that would be great.

thanks!
Dustin

I have been using carbon Express fat shafts for the last couple of of years in my Martin Jaguar and find they are very accurate.

I shoot the Easton ACC 3-60/340 --- it's the medium weight aluminum/carbon composite. They're light, strong, and shoot mighty straight. :)

types of arrows

I shoot beeman ics 400's They are not as expensive but I have had alot of success with them. I started shooting easton xx75 2219's when I first got a bow about 8 years ago. It didnt take me long to wanna switch, I was sick and tired of having bent arrows. The carbons will either be straight or they will be broken. I check every one of mine prior to goiing in the woods. This past year I took a buck in velvet and I cleaned the arrow off to reuse it. I checked it at that night it seemed to be fine. Two days later I was ready to bow hunt again shecked my arrows and the #1 arrow(lucky) I call it was actually cracked. If I would have shot with that arrow it would have exploded and I would have got carben in my bow hand. I did shoot a doe that very night. I always check my equipment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good to know. thanks for all the suggestions guys. i think i will try to sample a little bit of what all of you have mentioned to find a wiener.

i saw some carbon at Sports Authority yesterday, 1/2 dozen for $35. seemed like a good deal, but i'm going to try to get these specific models that you have mentioned to try things out for a while.

need to be on the ball here, season is only 5.5 months away!

A) you need to get the bow set up for you not your brother if you plan to buy it.
B) arrows are a matching piece of equipment for the bow. Not any arrow or size will work.
Educate yourself a little before you buy just any arrow to find out what the bow will chuck out the best. You have a bunch of variables to weigh over.
Speed, trajectory, penetration, broad head compatibility, forward of center, draw length, price.
Heck I could go on all day.
Bring the bow to an archery shop and let them set you up correctly.
