Be safe out there!! Make sure you know whats behind your target! sad news....

Channel 12 News:
WINGINA, Va. (AP) - Authorities have identified a 7-year-old boy who was fatally shot while hunting with his father and brother in Nelson County.

Authorities say Connor Ryan Craig of Shipman shot at a deer with a pellet gun. He then ran into the path of a follow-shot fired by his 10-year-old brother, who was using a shotgun. The younger boy was shot in the back and died at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

The accident occurred Saturday in the Wingina area.

A Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries spokeswoman told The News & Advance that the family was in compliance with hunting safety laws.

The investigation is continuing.

its not so much that he didnt know what was beyond his target, the young boy got excited and ran to tell the older brother who was shooting, and the father he had shot at a deer when he ran in front of his brother. this was a sad accident, but just one of those freak accidents nobody sees coming.
