Venison Chili Question...??

Now that you've got them, what do you do with them?

Venison Chili Question...??

Postby DouglasSpear » Mon Jul 13, 2009 8:07 am

I have a ton of breakfast sausage that I don't think I'll have enough time nor the people to help me eat it. Do you think I could make venison chili out of the breakfast sausage? It's still in ground form like my venison burger and I typically just form patties and cook it in the skillet, but if I just cook it like ground venison for chili, it shouldn't be a problem right? Has anyone done this before?

I dont see why not, I usually use 1/2 ground venison and 1/2 ground sausage in my chili.

I didn't think it would matter either, but never thought of trying it until I saw how full the sausage side of the freezer was.

I tried the sausage for the chili and it made no major taste difference. With all the added flavors and chili powder, I'm convinced that any cut of venison can go in chili.

Yes, i've done that quite often.

The breakfast sausage gives the chili a kind of smoke flavor that is great.

if you like meaty spagetti sauce just cook up some breakfast sausage and toss it in your spagetti sauce...tastes great, with a bit of seasonings

Or if you have time my mom makes "stromboli" just mix up some homemade bread its really easy then mix up breakfast sausage + cheese (any kind really) and cook it till you get a nice golden brown bread

enjoy :d
