Vermont moose hunting 2006

Vermont gave out 1115 Moose permits by lottery this year. 5 more were auctioned off by the state, and one was put on e-bay. Typically Vermont has a 60% + success rate with the moose hunt. Look for more permits in the years to come. I recently heard that there are more moose hit by cars every year in Vermont, then are killed during the season.

Ive never put in for a permit. I make a lot of excuses not to go, but really I dont have the time. I live and work right up in the heart of Moose country in Vermont, the Northeast Kingdom. I see moose almost daily near my house, but Ive never put in for a permit. Maybe in the coming years. Vacation time is hard to get for moose hunting, especially when youve got deer hunting, turkey hunting and duck hunting. Not to mention the wife and kids.
