Call ADF&G and report the bear. Until then, I would invest in a bear proof trash can or get it up off the ground.

Having never shot or even seen a wild bear ( could have somthing to do with living in Australia), if I was in your situation, it would already be with my taxidermist!

From what I hear, you better make sure that the bear is about to eat you before shooting. Just shooting it because it is in your trash or yard is a no no, but that is in any state with a bear population.

Seeing as you live in Alaska,D-R will more than likely try to live trap it and not kill it.From what I understand that the normal proceedure anyway.But as for you killing it,as Doc says its not exactly legal unless you are being attacked by it at the time.So unless you wanna let him gnaw on your arm first,call the wild life people,they are trained for things like this.
Want my ammo?Ok,stand downrange.

remove the food

Postby redhawk22660 » Sun Nov 08, 2009 8:18 pm

if you remove all the food from out side, he will mabe visit one or two more times looking for it, but will leave and not return. all your going to do is get rid of "THAT" bear, but another will most likely take his place, youve got to remove the food, befor you will be able to get rid of the bear problems....ask any game warden......
a wise hunter is one that knows his/her limints , and one who will not kill needlessly.

Love me little, love me long.

The love world is big, which can hold hundreds of disappointments;
the love world is small which is crowded even with three people inside.
