Want to learn

Postby strider » Sun Aug 16, 2009 2:00 am

This may seem a little weird but I'm 27 and I really want to learn to hunt (deer) but have no family or friends to teach me. (I know a couple people but they don't seem to ever kill anything they just wander around in the woods...) I live in Seattle but am from eastern Washington, former boyscout and outdoor enthusiast, in good shape, don't mind a long day of hiking, am smart and know how to follow instructions. I have money for gas, beer etc. (but not enough to pay a guide, I'm a grad student) I even have a cabin in Okanogan county if you're looking for a new place to go and frankly I don't care if I kill anything or even carry a gun (note though that I own guns and know how to operate them) I just want to see how it's done. So if anyone out there feels like sharing their wisdom let me know. If you want to meet first to see if we get along I will buy you a beer or something. Happy hunting.

Welcome to the DHC forum.

Hopefully someone here from Washington will go hunting with you, if you would like to ask questions on hunting, we try not to ever leave any question unanswered.

I'm in the same boat.

I did alot of small-game and bird hunting in AZ, but never any big-game because the odds of being drawn were around 1 in 1000.

Seattle doesn't seem to have alot of hunters, and I don't feel like driving out into the wilderness with no idea of what i'm doing. (IE. it's silly to reinvent the wheel)

But it seems people don't like to share hunting information, it only gets passed down by family members or close friends (I have neither as well)
