Wanted - any old or unwanted game meat for raw fed dogs.

Postby Lisa in CT » Wed Oct 14, 2009 8:07 am

I have two south african boerboel dogs that are on a 100% raw diet.
They eat about 10 pounds of meat a day between them.

I am looking for any game meat that can be donated.
It does not need to be fresh kill, it can be old freezer burnt meat - age does not matter.

It can be deer, elk, hog, etc. - any type of bird or animal

I can take meaty cuts, scraps and any organs (tongue, heart, liver, kidney, spleen, trachea, pancreas, etc.)

I Can travel anywhere in the state and into Mass to pick it up.

Please share this message with anyone you know who hunts.

I can be reached at lisa-ml@comcast.net

Thank you in advance for helping.

Good luck, but asking people to give you meat to feed 2 dogs that you own is pretty ridiculous in my opinion. If you cant afford to feed the dogs, then you should be getting rid of them.

I am not asking people to give me meat that they would use for their family. I am asking for what would be thrown away - guts, organs, scrap, fat parts, etc. I can afford to feed my dogs without any problem, but since I feed 100% raw and feed GRASS FED only, its nearly impossible to get quality grass fed meat in the store. Everything is feed lot raised. And its totally impossible to get grass fed game meat in the store.

Perhaps you know nothing about raw feeding, but dogs are only .02% away from wolves in DNA and like wolves, they are carnivores and thrive on grass fed protein. The crap in the stores is nothing more than cereal with a fancy label. Dogs cant digest it and it causes all kinds of health problems.

I've been feeding raw for 30 years and have been using the internet to get donations for the last 10 years and its worked out awesome. If you look on freecycle or craigs list, you will find at least 100 people from the raw feeding group I belong to asking for unwanted meat. By the way - i've already gotten 3 replies. All from people who have old meat and are clearing out their freezer and needed to get rid of it, so this forum has worked out great.

No I wasn't. I just moved to the area - before I was in vermont. It wouldn't suprise me that others have posted here; its an excellent source and since i've gotten 3 replies there's obviously those who are willing to share what they cant use and would only discard.
