You may be hunting in a high pressure area (where the deer are hunted extremely hard or come in contact with humans a lot). Often I've found that these deer may be nocturnal deer. They only move at night. However if you are hunting an area farely free of pressure, then you might want to do a little extra scouting and make sure you are not hunting too closely to a bedding area or feeding area. Being right on top of either one will spook deer that would normally be there. The best time to hunt a feeding area is an evening hunt since deer normally feed at night. The best time to hunt a bedding area is in the morning. Deer will be moving from a feeding area to a bedding area. However, when the rut kicks in you can throw that out the window. Bucks will be chasing does at all times of the day and night. You're just as likely to see a Booner at noon as you are at midnight. My suggestion is to find a route deer take from their feeding area to their bedding area and hunt that path or paths. You're likely to see deer in the morning leaving the feeding area and in the evening going to dinner.

I've seen deer move in the midday when the majority of hunters are eating lunch or taking a nap. Staying out longer can have its benefits.

KWACKWACKER MADE A GOOD POINT, STAND LOCATION IS CRITICAL. ALSO, I HAVE BEEN WATCHING LUNAR ACTIVITY TABLES FOR 3 YRS. NOW, AND I'M FULLY CONVINCED THAT DEER MOVE ACCORDING TO THE MOONS PHASE. ALTHOUGH I ONLY APPLY THE LUNAQR CHART TO FEEDING ACTIVITY (NON RUTTING PERIODS) IT HAS PUT ME ON SOME MEMORABLE HUNTS IN STANDS THAT WERE INCONSISTENT BEFORE.LOOK FOR MOON OVER AND MOON UNDER PHASES FOR YOUR AREA TO FIND HIGH ACTIVITY PERIODS.GOOD LUCK
