What Bow should I get

Postby Chasinwhitetails01 » Sat Jan 16, 2010 4:04 pm

Question for all you bowhunters,

I have never bow hunted and I'm gonna give it a try next season. I found a Mathews Q2 already set up for 300. and I also found a Hoyt Trykon XL alrerady set up for 400. If I knew I would like bow hunting I would go ahead and buy a new model bow. But don't wanna put all the money in it and hate it! Any Suggestions welcome!

If you are going to buy new or used make sure you buy a bow that fits your draw length. Don't just buy a used bow because it is a great price. Shoot as many bows as you can and see what feels comfortable for you. Make sure you can constantly shoot it accurately with it. I would suggest going to a Archery shop in your area and try as many bows as possible. They will have used or last year models at a good price, plus you can get a professional opinion from a archery pro shop. Good luck.

Shoot some to see what you like and then look at the price. I have owned Reflex(Hoyt), Bowtech and now PSE. I like all of them.

I agree with the doc, shoot them first. It will eliminate allot of the brand loyal opinions. One show may not fit you as another will someone else. I find each bow has it's own characteristics which you may like better than another. I would also recommend finding a good pro dealer to help set you up and understand the dynamics of your bow and how to shoot it.
