We have a farm in Salem, Missouri. The soil is not very good so i am wondering what the best thing would be to plant to get some growth is the racks of our deer.

Hi there,

When you say soil not too good. Shady, moist, dry, low ph, sandy, compacted? Can you forward a few details and will get back to you. Where did you locate the plot in relation to other things around you also. If it is shady, is the plot going to get at least 4 hours of daylight per day?
Talk to you soon, Best of luck to you.

when i say not to good. i mean compacted and really rocky. It gets a lot of sunlight because i am going to plant in a field. Its going to have woods on one side and a hay field on the other. About a quarter mile south there is a pond. see if that helps. thanks

clovers would likely grow well there, lots of alfalfa around there? Chickory would probably do well also. Best idea is to go ask your local ACS office.
