Which Bow to Buy?

Postby BowFreek » Mon Dec 29, 2003 4:09 pm

I'm in the market for a bow and looking into the pro's and con's of each. My buddy has a Mathew's Legacy and likes it, but it doesn't really fit me well. I'm a smaller guy and looking for a smaller model.

Any help is appreciated!

I haven't had any bad experiences with my Legacy as well.

A great bow in my opinion.

I just picked up an archery research 31. Its a sweet shooting bow. I like the legacy too, but wanted shorter A to A , more brace height (AR31 has 8 1/2 ") and lightweight. I picked up a firestorm light last January. Its a real sweet shooter too. I am keeping it as my backup. I'd shoot every bow you can and see what you like best. If you want to compare brands and models, check out this link, real good unbiased info. Good luck.

which bow to buy

Postby Meathead » Mon Nov 08, 2004 4:27 am

I just sold my 98 hoyt deviator and bought a pearson diamondback VX. I shot many different bows and the pearson shoots great. The bow is 32" long, 8-1/4"brace height, 20 degree offset grip, 85% letoff and anti-vibration components built in. It is very quiet, smooth, FORGIVING! and IBOs over 300fps. I paid $340.00 for the bow brand new on Ebay. It retailed for over 500.00 but it was a leftover 03 model. There is no reason to pay 600-800 bucks for a bare bow. There is only so many technical advances that can really make a difference. Most of the new improvements make very little difference in the performance of a bow. If you are going to buy a short bow, make sure the brace height is over 7". Take consistency over speed! Those less than forgiving speed bows may shoot good in the range wearing only a shirt but what about when you are on a small treestand in an awkward position, with cold hands and bundled up. I took the money that I saved and bought a carry lite decoy and a north star climber. My set up includes a trophy ridge sight, pearson quiver, TM hunter rest, and muzzy 100s. Good luck

A Mathews SWITCHBACK in my opinion is the best bow on the market ,but if you are wanting shorter Axle to Axle get an OUTBACK... It is almost as good as the SB but not quite
