For the money, the CVA in-lines (Optima, Eclipse, etc.) are great guns and they don't cost an arm and a leg. I've shot a CVA Eclipse for the past 4 years, and it's been great with the PowerBelt bullets and Pyrodex pellets. Good luck, and welcome to smoke-polin'. :)

im with t-bird on that one, i hit a six point from 35 yards with a power belt last year. he was standing facing away from me, i was 30 foot up a pine and hit him 4 inches above his pelvis 1 inch right of his spinal column it fragmented into three pieces two of which went thru his vitals and out of his throat, and the other lodged into his right front shoulder i was using my itialian sporterized carbine but for a cheaper but just as accurate frontloader it would be what t-bird said gl to u2
a kill isnt what makes the hunt successful, but it sure helps

Well for me it is the Savage 10MLII smokeless. Check to make sure that you can use smokless powder in you area. They cost a little more but are cheaper to operate and just clean it like any other rifle no more corrosion. They are among the most accurate ML's on the market.. Look at them on the savage website

i started with a knight and for what i have seen it is one of the most reliable muzzleloaders out there if u get a good scope and line it up correctly it can be a deadly machine for the deer population :D

For me,Thompson Center all the way. But Knight, and others make quality guns also.Depends on how much you are willing to spend too.Good luck and let us know what you decide on.
