winter workout for hunting

Postby ironhead » Thu Feb 25, 2010 1:51 pm

Too cold to be doing anything outside,,,so i am using my gazelle for 30-45 minutes moderate speed, 160 situps, then using the wifes wii fit on the step aerobics with the rifle and full hunt pack,,elevating the board to 4 inches at a rate of right around 90-95 steps a minute, for 60 minutes,,does anybody else have an unusual one to get ready for elk season?

I still bundle up in my cabelas brand hunting gear and 20lbs in a back pack and walk my four dogs 2 at a time for a mile at a time other than that i wrestle with my son and work hard at work but i have not elk hunted yet i just go white tail and if snow is out it becomes hard to drag them any distance but hope soon to get my elk tag or maybe go to an elk hunting reserve and pay the big money for one it just does not seem the same to me so hope i can get a tag soon good luck

I presently have my pack loaded at 45 pounds,,will add a bit more to it and the stepper elevation as i get better,,have backed off the gazelle i was on it for 45 min 2x a day,,the stepper and the weighted pack are having more effect on me. My son is too big to be wresting with anymore,,,might have to give it a shot,,,he was 3x high school All-American,,,can still teach him a few new tricks though haha.
