So you have only had the bow for a month and you have only been shooting a bow since August of this year? It sounds to me like you need to practice more and from heights similar to what you are hunting from. Archery is a ton different from shooting a gun. I generally do not advise anyone to have less than a year of experience with shooting a bow before they hunt with one. Too much of a chance of injuring an animal. I shot for 2 years before I tried bow hunting. I usually start practicing mid summer so that I know everything is the way it should be by hunting season.

I totally agree with NYBuckhunter. Practice, practice, practice. Then practice some more from your shooting height. I have not touched my bows in 2 years and would have to shoot many hours before I would think about trying to take a deer. Try some video archery at your local archery shop if paper targets get boring.

Practice, practice, practice! A far as the deer coming out in the field after dark try setting your stand back in the woods, where the deer are entering the field. Maybe 50 yards or were ever you think there holding till dark. :D
