I started with a 7-30 waters T/C contender . It is now my son's gun and in his first two years of hunting with me has killed 3 pigs .

I now use a Ruger M77 All-Weather .270 win. with a Leupold vari-x 3 with a 2 1/2 lbs. trigger pull .

My old standby is a Win Model 670A (Sears model) 30-06 that I got from my grandpa. I put a synthetic stock and Redfield 4-16x 44mm scope with Burris Dual Dovetail mounts on it. I free floated the barrel and lightened the trigger pull. Now it really shoots great and my 15 year old uses it.

The new standby is a Savage 112 SS 300WM with a Simmons Whitetail 4-12x 44mm scope. I also used the Burris Dual Dovetail on this one. Love the gun, shoots Remington 180 gr Core-lokt in 3 shot groups under .5 MOA, Federal 180 gr Power Point in 3 shot groups just over .5 MOA. The best part is I paid less than $450 for the whole works including sling. My 10 year old de-virginized it this year by taking a nice 8 pt using managed recoil ammo. Then I loaded it with regular ammo and shot a 9pt an hour later from the same stand. Life is indeed good.

Depends what I'm hunting. I live in northern BC and we have a real mixed bag of animals up here.

My favorite deer rifle is a 7x57 with a 120 grain Nosler ballistic tip for farm/field hunting, or the 139 grain Hornady for timber or logging slash.

For blackies, I like my Tikka .06 with 150 grain Sierra Gamekings.

For elk or moose, my .300 Weatherby with 200 grain partitions.

If I don't know what I'm after and Grizz may be around, I use the .300 or my .375 H&H with 260 grain partitions. Either work on everything.

I carry a Benelli R1 30-06 carbine with a Leupold 1-4 VXII. I use this in Maine and love the gun. It carries comfortably, shoots smooth and soft and is a pleasure to look at. Just need to figure out where the deer still walk the woods in that state.

I use Ruger M77 270 with 3x9 Leupold, and just made a good trade for a Ruger m77 300 win mag, the guy that had it had a crappy scope on it,,will be putting the new Redfield Revolutions 4x12 with Accu Range reticle on it very soon. If anybody didnt know,,,i am a huge fan of Ruger LOL.

WD-40 on firearms is a bad idea, it as a severe tendancy to gum up and foul the action, particularly in cold weather. The ONLY reason i will put it on any of mine is if i have it out in the rain, i spray liberally to remove the water, then field strip and oil ASAP.

I'm originally from Ohio but stationed in Georgia. When I'm huntin in Ohio I use my 12Ga Browning Silver Series with a Nikon Slughunter 3X9. Haven't hunted in Georgia yet but just bought a Marlin XLR 30-30 with a Leupold 4X. Did alot of research and am hopin this is the right setup for Whitetail and Hog down here in the south.

I used a243 about 6 years, kill some good deer with it but had to do alot tracking. I now use a7mm mag. made by tikka a sako arms co. Sence i change guns i have only had track my deer for about 50 yards at the most and have only one to get away. Less time tracking more time hunting.

I live in Tennessee but do a lot of hunting in Texas. I have a Sabre Defence Industries 6.5 Grendel with 18" Fluted Light Varmint Competition Barrel w/ Leupold VXIII 3.5X10 30mm tube that I use for Coyotes and Prairie Dogs and sometimes a pig as well as a Rock River Arms Varmint Rifle in 223/5.56. My main hunting rifle for deer and pigs in Texas is a Remington 700 CDL with Leupold VXIII 3.5X10 30mm tube 50mm Objective,Lighted Reticle in Remington 7MM Mag. Cal. I am a fan of the 30mm tube scopes since their light gathering capabilities is fantastic.

NEF Survivor 308 WIN. Its a break action single shot. One Shot One Kill. Technically it isn't my deer rifle because I've never shot a deer with it. Planning on changing that in the next couple of weeks. Its got a 16x Nikon on top. Being break action you get to feel every bit of that round kicking in your shoulder.

My latest project is a Remington Model 700 Sendero 300 RUM. I think I'm done buying rifles...

I use a Marline 336CS .30/30 for when I hunt thick swamps, and then my Remington 700 BDL in 7mm Remington Magnum when I need something for long distance shooting.
