Mountaineer did you do any good yesterday?
SDH, one more month for you. Hope you do well and get your cow elk!
I did alright during ours. Didn't see a buck I wanted, so I filled a couple of doe tags.

Yeah, Thanks, I need all the luck I can get. I have shot two cows with the muzzleloader. If something works, I pretty much stick with it. Good job on your part.- SD

muzzloader

Postby bambeklr » Sun Jun 19, 2005 6:47 pm

I only have until the second week of october. I will be ok until then since bow season is september 1st and chances are I will have a few in the freezer by then so I can be picky. I must say that I cant wait to send my 300 grain barnes expander through a whitetail. I love having to wait until the smoke clears. It drives me nuts, "is it down or did it run". I have shot my old hawkens rifle so much its almost a toss up to take it or my inline. It all falls down to how far could I shoot and how late are the deer moving. I love to shoot a scope but the hawkens rifle just holds a special place in my heart. I think it has somthin to do with being passed down from my father. I try to kill a deer with it every year.

Sounds like a very special Hawkens you have there BK. Hope you do well with it this year. Sometimes that smoke can be a pain...gotta love it though. :)

In Fla., depending on geographical zone you can start 10-16 and hunt until 11-21 And of course you can hunt ML in general gun that runs from 10-30 to 1-9 in the early zone to 12-11 to2-16 in the later zones. Florida has one of the most generous bag limit structure as well! Deer everyday and during muzzleloader season it is 2 a day a doe and a buck each day I think! Here is a link to our regs. if you care to look it up! Brent

Vermont Muzzleloader season

Postby yellodog1 » Thu Sep 14, 2006 7:02 am

Vermonts season follows the rifle season. It usually starts the first Saturday in December and runs for the week.

Any type of muzzleloader is allowed, and you can use a scope. In 2006 the State is allowing a limited number of doe permits in certain areas, to be applied for by lottery.

The season is short, and has followed Bow hunting and Rifle hunting, the good thing about it, is that being in early December, you are usually guaranteed snow on the ground.

Tenn. season is Nov. 4-10 and Dec. 4-10. That is ML and archery only. Then you can hutn with your ML during rifle also, if you so choose.

Our season (Southwest NY) runs from Dec 11-19. It is a shame there is only one weekend in there. If I could take two months off to hunt, I would, but I imagine the boss would frown on that.
